Tim Russert

By BlackJack

Sad news comes of the passing of Tim Russert. For those psuedo-jounalists who appear daily on our televisions and radios, Tim was in an elite class with the likes of Murrow, Brinkley and Cronkite.

I can't express my sadness. People who know me know that I had to watch Meet The Press each Sunday, even Tivo'ing it each week so as not to miss it. Both my wife and my father called to be sure that a family member gave me the news - my friends and family knew that I respected this man greatly. He was an anchor of wisdom in the troubled waters of broadcast jounalism.

In recent memory, during the past several months of the Democratic Primary season, I would constantly look forward to the moments when Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews (both of whom I respect) would throw to Tim for a comment. Invariably, Tim would have something insightful or profound to say that would bring clarity to the situation at hand. Tim was capable of de-spinning the news and providing clear headed commentary.

Nothing I can say here will do any justice to Mr. Russert as a true professional journalist. He stood alone in respect. Our little blog goes dark in honor of him today.
