The Odd Couple - Crist And Dean Agree. Sort Of.

By BlackJack

It's been an odd week of back and forth with Governor Charlie Crist (R-FL) and Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean. Not that they're at odds with each other. Actually they seem to agree that somehow Florida and Michigan primary/caucus votes need to count. The end product, however, is a weird (and unrealistic) meeting of the minds.

So what's the problem? Well the problem is that the state political parties in both states broke party rules when they decided to move their state primaries up the calendar. The political parties warned the state parties that if they went ahead with the primaries their votes wouldn't count.

The states decided to go ahead and ignore the national headquarters and hold the primaries as planned. Now here we are.

I can honestly say I don't think Charlie Crist is really very concerned about the Republican primary votes - John McCain is the presumptive candidate regardless now that even poor Ron Paul has called it quits. It's his opportunity to pile-on the Democratic party and feign "standing up" for the Florida Democratic voters.

It's also an opportunity for him to get his face on TV in the wake of hearing his name on the McCain co-conspirator list - although McCain himself is avoiding the question.

Isn't politics wonderful?
